“It was a great experience working at VGS”
Under hösten/vintern 2023 tog vi emot två praktikanter från Jobbsprånget, varav Swati Choube var en av dem.
Jobbsprånget är Sveriges största praktikprogram för nyanlända akademiker. Vi på Volkswagen Group Sverige är stolta över att medverka i programmet och det är ett av våra initiativ för att bidra till ökad kompetens och mångfald i organisationen. Under hösten/vintern 2023 tog vi emot två praktikanter, varav Swati Choube var en av dem.
Genom att välkomna nyanlända talanger med akademisk kompetens har vi som företag chans att göra skillnad! Det gynnar även våra medarbetare som får möjlighet att utveckla sina ledaregenskaper. Matias Rikander och Ali Souihi från Group Fleet var först ut med att välkomna praktikanter. Vi har fått en pratstund med Swati och Matias som berättar om sin upplevelse och erfarenhet av praktikperioden.
Swati, tell us about your internship
– It was a great experience working at VGS and I felt so welcome from my first day from my mentor Matias, and Erin’s mentor Ali. I learned a lot about the automotive industry, which was very new to me. An internship is not just about the work, it also provides a chance to build professional connections and expand your network.
What were the main day-to-day responsibilities involved in this internship?
– I was mainly working with Matias and the Group Fleet team. My duties were to help Matias in preparing reports using Qlik sense, analyzing data sheets and documents, checking agreements, and analyzing them, and placing them in the correct place.
Can you give us an insight into the company culture?
– Work-life balance is one of the most important aspects of life, and my mentor always inspires me to learn new things.
What have you gained from the internship and what have you contributed?
– I immersed myself in the Swedish work culture and regained my self-confidence after a career break. I was committed to supporting our mentors and making significant contributions to the team.
Have you faced any challenges?
– The chats on Teams were conducted exclusively in Swedish, necessitating frequent translation to stay informed. The meetings and general discussions among the team were also primarily in Swedish, making it more challenging due to my limited Swedish language proficiency. Fortunately, Matias was always willing to translate what was being discussed, providing invaluable support both personally and professionally.
According to you, what is the best thing about working at Volkswagen Group Sverige?
– The best thing is that it provides a positive and supportive work environment.
Matias var handledare till Swati under praktiken och även han ger sin bild av perioden;
– Praktikperioden gjorde att vi fick lära oss kulturella skillnader. Vi har arbetat aktivt för att både Swati och Erin ska känna sig inkluderade i allt från arbetsuppgifter till företagsaktiviteter. Det har varit spännande att se deras utveckling och hur de har tagit för sig mer och mer. Jobbsprånget har haft tydliga processer och strukturer vilket känns väldigt professionellt. Utbytet har varit lärorikt på många sätt!
